COMMERCIAL AND PRIVATE PREMISES INFORMATION

The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001 came into force on 1st March 2002.  Our New Plastic Bunded Tanks comply with these regulations - so you can buy with confidence.  The standards apply to all industrial and commercial premises such as factories and hotels, and institutions like schools and hospitals.


Impact of legislations on businesses  and institutions -It covers above ground storage of oil, where over 200 litres / 44 gallons are stored. 
Since September 2002 it has been a requirement that a tank with a bund must be used for all new installations.
  
A bund must be used from September 2003 for any existing tanks at significant risk i.e. those that are sited 10 metres from any inland freshwaters or coastal waters or 50 metres from a well or borehole.
Any existing installation prior to September 2001 must now do a risk assent and if there is a significant risk it must be bunded.  If there is not a significant risk the tank must in any case be bunded by September 2005.

A bund must be used from September 2005 for all existing oil storage.

Manufactured to BS799 Standard
Lockable roller shutter door with large security cabinet, the base of which is tanked with flowforge grating to stop the hose getting covered in oil.

Channels are fully welded to base so air can circulate underneath - to prevent corrosion

Tank and bund stiffened internally
Our manufacturer allows enough space between the tank and the bund to allow for stiffeners to be fitted. Without these in the event of an overfill the bund may bulge or if the bund is pressurised may burst.  These Roll Top Derv Stations bunds are stiffened and pressure tested to stand the fluid.
It is manufactured using the same standards for stiffening as the storage tank (BS799 part 5). 

Outside of tank and inside of tank coated with fluid to leave an oily film to prevent corrosion.
It is fully fabricated, tested then outside of the tank and the inside of the bund is coated with a wax oil anti-corrosion fluid, then placed in the bund and sealed around the top.  The bund is then tested.
