Ray Smith started from our Milkwall depot in
Gloucestershire and the business enjoyed
increasing organic growth over the next two decades, providing
tanks and drums across
the country.

In 1999 the partnership of Ray Smith & Son evolved into the
limited company Smiths of the Forest of Dean Ltd.
The firm is still an independently owned business with the three
Directors and Company Secretary all being family members. Ray
Smith is active as a senior consultant.
We have developed into a small dynamic company providing specialist
services and cost-effective products,
predominantly throughout the UK, but also to Europe. In 2009
we became Members of the Federation of Small
Businesses. We hold a Waste Carriers Licence, which is
registered with the Environment Agency, a Goods Vehicle
Operator's Licence and an Environmental Permit Exemption.

Smiths of the Forest of Dean's customer base has increased
year-on-year for the past five years and includes county councils,
country estates, builders, cider makers, farmers, plumbers, heating
engineers, film units, exhibition centres environmental and waste
disposal companies etc as well as individual home owners and
domestic users.
We have retained our original premises in Milkwall and see customers
returning time and time again, which is very satisfying.
If you want a single one-off drum or hundreds a week we will
endeavour to provide you with a fast and efficient service, whoever
you are. Ray Smith founded the business on the principle that
every customer, big or small is very important to us and that
remains as true today as it did then.
